Requirements for Passing the NACE, NACP and NAPA Examinations

By: smartadmin

In order to become a NetApp Certified Expert (NACE) you will have to validate your skills in obtaining in-depth support, performance management for NFS, CIFS and FCP for ISCSI or SCSI for TCP/IP protocols on a NetApp storage appliance using as an operating system the Data ONTAP in Windows multi-protocol environments. As a NetApp Certified Expert, you should also be able to ensure the protection of mission-critical data by using specific programs such as SnapRestore, SnapVault and SnapMirror.

The main prerequisite for the NACE exams consists in obtaining the NACP certification. In order to become a NetApp Certified Expert, you will also have to pass the remaining NACP Optional Exams: The NSO-121 (Advanced knowledge of NFS, multiprotocol management of the NAS storage systems and Data ONTAP Advanced Exam), Nso-131 (Data protection exam, administration and usage of SnapMirror, SnapVault and SnapRestore, setup and configuration), the Nso-141 (High Availability Exam - configuration, administration and usage of Clustered Failover and MetroCluster), and the NSO-151 (San exam, configuration, administration and usage of Network Appliance's implementation of SAN).

To be able to perform different tasks such as in-depth support, administrative functions, performance management for CIFS and NFS protocols using NetApp technology in support with the Data ONTAP operating systems, you will have to prove the specific required skills by becoming a NetApp Certified Storage Professional (NACP). As a NetApp Certified Storage Professional you will be able to administer and manage NetApp Filers in NFS, as well as Windows. Moreover, you will be able to administer SnapMirror, SnapVault, SnapRestore and most important MetroCluster or NetApp’s implementation of a SAN. The study materials and resources required for passing the Storage Professional Data Protection Certificate examination can be obtained from papers, manuals and via the Internet.

In order to become a NetApp Certified Storage Associate you will have to prove great skills in supporting and administering various functions using NetApp technology adapted to the Data ONTAP operating system. The obtaining of the NACA certification requires you to pass the NSO-111 - Network Appliance Storage Associate Exam, and to gain basic knowledge on CIFS, as well as multiprotocol management of NAS storage systems and NFS. In addition, you should polish your skills in managing disks, Network Interface Configuration, Management and WAFL Concepts. You can gather the information needed for passing the NetApp Certified Storage Associate exam via the Internet or from study materials such as knowledge books.
